UKCP Psychotherapist in Bristol

There might be lots of reason why someone might consider therapy; it could be due to anxiety, depression, the breakdown of a relationship, bereavement, the loss of a job, or a niggling feeling that something does not feel quite right.
Embarking on therapy can sometimes feel difficult, however, I am here to provide you with a safe, confidential space where you can feel supported in your journey of self-exploration. Together we can explore what is happening for you and at your pace, allowing you to process your thoughts, feelings, behaviours, hopes, and fears. I believe that through therapy we can understand ourselves better, which can be life changing.
I offer counselling and psychotherapy, which is weekly, as therapy tends to be best when it is regular. I usually work open-ended, although we can agree on how many sessions you would like and continue to review this together.
I also provide low-cost, affordable therapy, and each 50-minute session costs £40.00.
My name is Rob, I’m a UKCP registered psychotherapist (in training), as well as an experienced, registered mental health practitioner, based in Bristol.
Originally trained as a registered nurse (RN), I have worked with a range of different groups of people, including people with mental health problems, neurodiverse adults, children and young people with mental health problems, and older adults. During my training, I also volunteered as a counsellor for Mind in Bristol, which is a mental health charity.
Due to my background, I have extensive experience of working with people with depression, anxiety, OCD, self-esteem issues, bereavement, and relationships difficulties. I am passionate about supporting the LGBTQIA community, and I have a particular interest in working with people with trauma. I am also dedicated to providing trauma informed, culturally sensitive, and ethical practice.
I am registered with the UKCP and a training member of the Welsh Psychotherapy Institute (WPI), which means that I adhere to both their codes of ethics and professional practice. In addition to this, I have an enhanced DBS check and professional indemnity insurance with Hodwen. I also have regular supervision to ensure that my practice is to a high standard.
I live with my husband in Bristol and I have many interests, including exercise, films, and snowboarding.
My approach to psychotherapy is relational-integrative, which means that I believe the most important part of therapy is our relationship, serving as a way of better understanding the relationships in your life and with yourself.
I also draw on developmental theories to psychotherapy, as I feel that a range of challenges we encounter in adulthood have roots in early life experiences, particularly in our initial relationships with others. This means that I think therapy is most effective when it offers a space of warmth, security, and empathy.
